Good news for students getting ready for the big West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) in 2025, and for their parents too!
We now know the official dates for the exams. This important information comes from the people in charge of schools in Ghana, the Ghana Education Service (GES).
When is WASSCE 2025?
Mark your calendars! The GES says the exams will happen between these dates:
- Exams Start On: Monday, 4th August 2025
- Exams End On: Friday, 19th September 2025
This means the exams will take place over seven weeks. That's almost two months, giving enough time for everything.
What Happens During These Seven Weeks?
Seven weeks might seem like a long time, but it's planned that way so there's enough space for all the different parts of the WASSCE. During this time, students will be taking:
- Written Exams (Theory): These are the main exams where students write answers to questions for most subjects.
- Practical Exams: For subjects like science or technical courses, students will do hands-on tests to show their skills.
- Speaking Exams (Oral): For language subjects like English or French, there might be tests where students need to speak.
Having this much time helps make sure the exams aren't too rushed and hopefully gives students breaks between difficult subjects.
How to Get Ready for WASSCE 2025
Now that you know the dates, it’s the perfect time for students to really start planning their studies!
Tips to Help You Prepare:
- Note Down the Dates: Write the start date (August 4th) and end date (September 19th) somewhere you'll see them often, like on a calendar or study planner.
- Know What to Study: Look at the subjects you need to pass. Make sure you understand what topics are important for the exams.
- Make a Study Timetable: Plan out your study time from now until August. Decide which subjects to study on which days. This helps you cover everything without rushing at the end. Remember to plan time for practicing practical skills and speaking too!
- Use Past Questions: Try answering questions from old WASSCE exams. This helps you understand what the real exam will be like.
- Watch for More News: Later on, the group that runs the exams, called the West African Examinations Council (WAEC), will release a detailed timetable showing *exactly* which subject is on which day. Keep an eye out for that!

Knowing the exact dates helps everyone plan. Students, now you have a clear target to work towards!
